Resort Description:
In the heart of the Washington Cascades, 52 miles east of Seattle, lies The Summit
at Snoqualmie. Washington's largest resort is actually four separate ski areas:
Alpental, Summit West (Snoqualmie), Summit Central (Ski Acres), and Summit East
(Hyak). The Summit is also Washington's most accessible resort, which is its biggest draw. Any day of the week, Seattle-area skiers and boarders can escape the
booming metropolis and its nightmarish traffic and literally be making turns in
less than 75 minutes.
But nighttime is the right time at The Summit, with snowriders rushing from work
and school to get in a few evening turns. The Summit happens to be one of the
largest night skiing facilities in the country. Roughly 70 percent of the area's
skiable terrain can be skied after sundown. Those willing to ride under the light
of the moon can even lay tracks on most of the remaining terrain.
